When I was in 4-H (yeah, way back when!) May was an exciting month. I kind get a little nogistalic sometimes when I think of the fair...and how far it has come than when I was being judged for my projects. We have some exciting changes this year beginning with our first annual Family Night. Dan and Carol Bullen and Triple Treat came up with the idea, ran it by me, and I think this is gonna be a real winner. Previous years we have had "kids day" on Thursday, but not too many parents were able to make it to see their kids enjoy the afternoon. We have eliminated Kids Day-and decided to make it Family Night-where the kids and parents can ride rides together (at a special price). There will be gtive aways (even during the harness racing at the grandstand). Harness racing has been a part of the fair "forever' and here's a chance to visit the fair exhibits-so come and spend the evening with us. Kids will have fun watching "Xenia's Got Talent" with Josh Lowe" and you might even seen an old friend or two. Mark your calendar for August 2, 2012.
4-H will be hosting their pre-judging on July 14th this year. All projects judged that day will the be taken home and brought back for display in the Assembly Building during the fair. Projects will be returned to the fairground on either July 25th or 26th between 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Upon bringing the completed/judged project to the fair on those two days ONLY the 4-H'er will receive a "voucher from Brenda Sandman-Stover (who will be in the Assembly Building during those hours). The 4-H-er/FFA exhibitor will then bring that voucher to the Administration Office (fair office) and receive their 4-H identification and fair coins. 4-'H'ers who fail to bring back their pre-judged projects on the days mentioned above will NOT receive either fair identification or fair coins for 2012. Yes, this is something brand new. Thanks so much for spreading the word and helping us make this the best year ever for 4-H/FFA. Our kids need encouragement and guidance-can we count on you to help?
Also, consider being an exhibitor this year. Are you crafty? We have lots of categories to enter your project and perhaps receive that coveted blue ribbon and maybe even a rosette. (plus premium money for your ribbons). Do you raise a garden? Flowers? Have antiques? Bake? We have a catagory for you. Please consider purchasing a week-long pass and with that pass you can exhibit.
There are still some parking spaces available on the fairground for $40.00 for the entire week. Beats parking "way out there"! If you purchase a parking place, it will be well lighted and on asphalt (unless it is behind the barns-we even have some of these available as well)> We have filled all the camping spaces for this year, so if you would like to camp in the future, please consider letting us put you on or waiting list.
THANK YOU to the Beavercreek Prom for sharing your special evening with us at the fairgrounds. T he prom goers were an example of respect to our property and the prom decorations were beautiful. Soon there will be pictures on the website of their "Hollywood" prom-complete with sunglasses for all. And let's not forget the RED CARPET. NICE JOB!
Well..thanks for visiting with me once again. I appreciate your comments and input. See you at "grocerylland"...or the "dollar store" or wherever our paths may cross. Have a great and blessed day (I know I have by visiting with you.) Esther
